About

Welcome to The Free Header, a soccer blog that will hopefully be updated somewhat regularly. If you’re wondering what will set this apart from other soccer sites, I really don’t know what to tell you to expect, outside of the fact that I consider myself a halfway decent writer.

This site will host the musings of an American soccer fan stuck in the soccer exile that is Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I’ve always had an appreciation for the sport, perhaps more than most of the country, but not excessively so. That is, until about a year ago when I made the pledge to pick out a favorite Premiership team. After getting acclimated to the always interesting (and sometimes shady) world of  internet feeds and catching the vast majority Everton F.C.’s matches, I was hooked for good.

That’s not to say that I’ll solely be focused on the Blues, even with that relatively conspicuous header above. Like a number of American soccer fans, I watch Major League Soccer regularly, and will certainly have some thoughts on the workings of that particular league. I’m also a pretty biased Chicago Fire fan because there’s nothing I love more than mediocrity.

And, of course, I will be talking about the U.S. Men’s National Team from time-to-time. As I’m writing this, the 2010 World Cup is wrapping up, and this particular writer is already looking forward to next year’s Gold Cup.

Lastly, to wrap up what has turned out to be The Free Header Manifesto, it’s not going to be all soccer all the time. I’ll do my best to shy away from certain non-soccer issues, as no one will be coming here to read about politics. There are hundreds of places that could accomplish that feat much better than I ever could.

With that said, I think I’ll get back to the real reason for the existence of this site.

Thanks for visiting,

Clay
