Cahill nets hat trick, Blues win 4-2 over Norwich City

After blowing a first half 2-0 lead, Everton F.C. rallied to a 4-2 victory over Championship side Norwich City. Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Tim Cahill supplied the scoring for the Toffees, the latter of which recorded a hat trick.

Cahill opened the scoring early with a sixth minute goal thanks to a gaffe by Norwich City keeper and former Evertonian John Ruddy. Cahill’s attempt went through Ruddy’s legs for the score.

Cahill, who has made a habit of scoring with his head over the years, headed in the second goal seven minutes prior to the half.

However, the Canaries responded immediately after the break with an Andrew Crofts header in the 46th minute to cut the deficit to one.

Andrew Surman evened the scoreline in the 58th after defender Joseph Yobo was caught off balance.

The tie wouldn’t stick though as Bilyaletdinov struck less than a minute later.

Cahill ended his remarkable day with a flick over Ruddy in the box and a strong finish to put the game out of reach.

The Toffees are now 5-0 through the preseason, and will be taking on Everton Chile in a much anticipated meeting next week.
