Brazil names roster for U.S. friendly

While questions surround who will be playing for the United States in the upcoming friendly against Brazil at Giants Stadium on August 10, we now know who will be playing for the five-time world champs.

Goalkeepers: Jefferson (Botafogo – Brasileiro), Renan (Avai – Brasileiro), Victor (Gremio – Brasileiro)

Defenders: Andre Santos (Fenerbahce – Super Lig), Daniel Alves (Barcelona – La Liga), David Luiz (Benfica – Portugese Liga), Henrique (Racing Santander – La Liga), Marcelo (Real Madrid – La Liga), Rafael da Silva (Manchester United – Premier League), Rever (Athletico Mineiro – Brasileiro), Thiago Silva (AC Milan – Serie A)

Midfielders: Carlos Eduardo (Hoffenheim – Bundesliga), Ederson (Lyon – Ligue 1), Hernanes (Sao Paulo – Brasileiro), Jucilei (Corinthians – Brasileiro), Lucas Leiva (Liverpool – Premier League), Paulo Henrique Ganso (Santos – Brasileiro), Ramires (Benfica – Portugese Liga), Sandro (Internacional – Brasileiro)

Forwards: Andre (Santos – Brasileiro), Neymar (Santos – Brasiliero), Alexandre Pato (AC Milan – Serie A), Robinho (Santos – Brasileiro), Deigo Tardelli (Athletico Mineiro – Brasileiro)

A pretty young roster but it should be interesting to see how our guys do against the the Brazil side, and I’m very curious as to how U.S. soccer approaches the friendly. I would hope they bring a handful of young guys, but this really seems like an appropriate time for a “victory lap” of sorts for the World Cup squad.
