Zizzo to join Chivas USA

Former U.S. U-20 and UCLA standout Sal Zizzo will be returning back to southern California as a member of Chivas USA, who won the rights to sign the midfielder through lottery.

The 23-year old native of San Diego is coming to the MLS after an ACL injury caused him to miss the entire 2009-10 season with Bundesliga side Hannover 96.

Prior to joining Hannover, Zizzo played two seasons for UCLA, earning Pacific-10 Freshman of the Year honors in his first campaign and All-American honors as a senior. In two seasons with the Bruins, Zizzo scored eight goals while dishing out 14 assists.

Chivas now has the ability to keep or trade Zizzo, and early signs are pointing to the Goats retaining him. Earlier this week, it was announced that current defender Jonathan Bornstein will be joining Mexican side Tigres, and earlier this season, Chivas lost star midfielder Sacha Kljestan.
