Johnson scores in preseason friendly

After injuries and a dip in form prevented Eddie Johnson from being a part of the United States World Cup squad, the 26-year old started and scored for Fulham Wednesday in a 5-0 preseason victory over Brentford.

It marked the first time the American forward had scored for the Cottagers since a preseason friendly against Melbourne Victory (of Australia) in 2009.

Despite not making the cut for the World Cup roster, Johnson has actually had a pretty solid 2010 to this point. He scored five goals in 16 matches while on loan to Aris in the Greek Super League (where he teamed up with fellow American Freddy Adu).
